Terms & Conditions

Terms & Conditions
Fees are due termly, before the first day of term. Prices can be found on the relevant page of the website. You will receive details of how to pay online. Late payment of fees will incur an admin fee of £10. If you join part way through a term you will receive an invoice, fees not paid within 10 days of receiving the invoice will incur an admin fee of £5.00.  Term fees are non-refundable.

Covid-19 - We are constantly working to ensure that we are meeting government regulations. We are operating a one way system where possible and allow time between classes to  prevent it getting too busy with people coming and going. In the event of a lockdown classes will be moved online via Zoom (please take  note of our zoom T&C's below). Our teachers work very hard to make the routines fun and keep  dancers engaged though sometimes may adjust the format slightly for lessons that take place on zoom. If one of our teachers has to isolate at short notice (not displaying symptoms) and we are unable to arrange a teacher to cover the lesson , we may need to move lesson to zoom. PLEASE NOTE; We are not able to offer refunds or transfer lessons if you opt not to participate in zoom classes during lockdowns or if a teacher needs to isolate at short notice and class moves to zoom (see details above). Thank you for your understanding.

One half term's notice must given in writing to withdraw a pupil from a class. The fee for the notice period is payable, regardless of whether the student it attending the class.

All dancers (or their parent or guardian) must complete a registration form. You will not be able to participate in any dance class if you have not completed a registration form. When you register it is important that we know about any Pre-existing musculoskeletal injuries or medical conditions the dancer has. Please advise your teacher before class if you have a new injury or condition staff should be aware of. In case of an injury a qualified first aider will look after your child.

Teaching dance often requires the teacher to place hands on the dancer in order to facilitate improved placement of the body. Please speak with teachers if you have any questions relating to this.

When in class dancers are expected behave as they would at school, to listen to their teachers and respect the staff and their fellow class mates in order that the class can learn in an enjoyable and safe environment. Similarly, teachers expect to be spoken to respectfully by parents. Failure to meet this expectation may result in the student being asked to leave the school.

When we have watching weeks and end of class presentations we may allow you to film and take photos. Please respect dancers’ confidentiality. If you do take photos or videos please ensure they include only your child and do not share any content on social media.

When collecting your child after the class, please come to the designated collection area. It is not enough that your child knows you are waiting in a car, the teachers need to see you before they can release them to you to ensure Child Protection.

Please be prompt for both drop-off and pick up. Dancers should be ready to dance, having their hair tied back and having been to the toilet in time to start their class at the designated time. Late arrivals are incredibly disruptive to the rest of the class. Similarly, could parents please be punctual for collection. When teachers need to wait for a parent to arrive it results in a delay in the subsequent class starting.

What experience do I / does my child need?
For information on individual classes, what is involved and the expected level of ability  please see the relevant page on the website. If in any doubt please contact Fi; 0797 471 0706 beatsdancebath@gmail.com

Can my child do a trial class?
We always recommend a trial class before you commit to the term. Once you have decided to continue you will be emailed an invoice.

Can my child take exams?
There is the option for your child to take exams although this is not mandatory. They can move up to the next grade when they have reached the necessary skill level without taking the exam.

Are there any performance opportunities?
Beats Dance understands that many dancers love to perform to an audience. We take part in local community events such as The Bath Carnival, Keynsham Music Festival, Picnic In The Park and put on an annual show!

Can I watch my child in class?
This is not possible at the moment due to the pandemic. We usually have watching weeks at the end of the Autumn term so you can see what they do in class. We also often have impromptu performances at the end of class when we have worked on something in class they wish to show you. Please remember the confidentiality of other members of the class when taking photos or videos during watching sessions. Please try to ensure as far as possible that you are only filming or photographing your child and do not share any content on social media.

What do I / does my child wear for class?
For trial classes children can wear leggings and vest tops. They will need bare feet for a ballet trial and their school shoes are fine for a tap trial. They cannot dance in socks or tights as they may slip.

Bouncy Beats
Anything goes; tutus, Spider-Man costumes, it does not matter too much so long as they can move freely and are not in a long outfit which may trip them up. Bare feet or ballet shoes are fine. They cannot dance in socks or tights as they may slip.

Dance Shoes
There are lots of online dancewear websites. They all stock a variety of brands. Bloch, Capezio, First Position and Roch Valley are all good brands. Alternatively there is a shop in Radstock where you can try shoes on. It is worth bearing in mind that many ballet shoe brands come up small so if you are buying on line it is worth ordering 2 or 3 pairs and sending back those which don’t fit. Leather have better durability and you do not need a split-soled shoe. For tap shoes you can always have a look on eBay. The glittery ones look pretty but do not bend too well making many steps a bit harder.

Primary Ballet/Tap
The official uniform is a regulation ISTD sleeveless pink leotard, pink ballet tights, pink wrap skirt and pink cardigan in the winter. There are lots of online dancewear websites. See information on Dance Shoes above.

Grades 1-3 Ballet
The official uniform is a regulation ISTD sleeveless sky blue leotard, pink ballet tights, sky blue wrap skirt if wanted and sky blue cardigan in the winter. There are lots of online dancewear websites which sell these. See information on Dance Shoes above.

Grade 4+ Ballet
A simple, black, thin-stapped leotard like this one;
https://www.movedancewear.com/capezio-banksia-bratek-leotard-black-p984/
Pink ballet tights and a black cardigan if required for the winter. See information on Dance Shoes above.

Contemporary
Dancers must wear black to class but can wear whatever they feel comfortable in; leotard and tights, leggings and a vest are most suitable. They dance in bare feet.

Technical Classes
Dancers must wear black to class but can wear whatever they feel comfortable in; leotard and tights, leggings and a vest are most suitable. They dance in bare feet or dance trainers. Dance trainers are excellent for providing just the right amount of support, shock absorption, traction and slide. Bloch do fantastic dance trainers.

Street Dance and Holiday Workshops
They can wear whatever they feel comfortable in for this class. Many choose to wear their Beats T-shirts and hoodies to feel like part of the crew. These are available by direct order. Contact Fi; beatsdancebath@gmail.com
They can dance in bare feet or trainers but dance trainers are the best option. See details above under Tech Classes.

Adult ballet
Most people wear comfy gym gear and some wear leotards and tights. Whatever you feel comfortable in. Once you have tried a class and definitely wish to continue you can buy ballet shoes fairly cheaply. See Dance Shoes above.

Adult tap
You can wear whatever you feel comfortable in. If you don’t have tap shoes then just wear flat shoes which don’t slip off (not trainers as these tend to stick when we want the foot to slide). When you want to buy Tap shoes have a look at the advice on Dance Shoes above.

All teachers have Enhanced DBS certificates and professional dance training.
